Orlando, FL (April 2018) The IEEE Council on RFID (CRFID) announced today that Mohammad Alhassoun, Michael Varner and Gregory Durgin of Georgia Institute of Technology are the recipients of the Best Paper Award for the IEEE RFID 2018 technical conference co-located with RFID Journal Live! 2018.

The paper entitled, “Design and Evaluation of a Multi-Modulation Retrodirective RFID Tag” presents an antenna design that reflects incident radio waves from an RFID reader directly back to their source for maximum communications range and reliability.

“We congratulate Mohammad Alhassoun, Michael Varner and Gregory Durgin on a superb paper, and we want to acknowledge the dedication and passion of our attendees, authors, speakers, co-chairs, and volunteers,” says IEEE CRFID President Gisele Bennett, Senior VP Research and Professor, Electrical and Computer Engineering at Florida Institute of Technology.

We would also like to congratulate our Best Paper Honorable Mention Awardee  Edward Keehr, Superlative A Low-Cost Software-Defined UHF RFID Reader with Active Transmit Leakage Cancellation.

The IEEE Council on RFID (CRFID), which sponsors the IEEE RFID conference series, is one of IEEE’s 46 technical societies and councils. Its field of interest is the theory and practice of matters relating to radio frequency identification and RFID-related systems. The purpose is to advance and coordinate work in the field of RFID and contribute to the scientific, literary and educational interests.
