Smart Cities Mega Challenge Announcement for 2018

As you might recall from the last newsletter, the University of Macau Team won the Champion of “IEEE Mega-Challenge 2017: Smart Cities” Competition.  A team formed by University of Macau recently participated in the IEEE RFID 2017 Conference and “IEEE Mega-Challenge 2017: Smart Cities” Competition. The team competed with teams from over the world, and won the Champion with the project “UHF RFID Based Gesture Control System for Smart City Transportation”.

The call for submissions for the 2018 Smart Cities Mega Challenge is out.  Like the 2017 challenge, the 2018 challenge focuses on the use of radio frequency identification RFID in Smart Cities. Teams will be rated on how they plan and evaluate a solution that incorporates RFID technology and systems. Teams are asked to prepare as if responding to a request for proposal (RFP).  The Submission Deadline is January 15, 2018. Please contact megachallenge@ieee-rfid.org if interested! The finalist will asked to present their project at the IEEE RFID 2018 Conference in Orlando, FL 10-12 April, 2018.  For more information please see the flyer.
