by Shashikant Patil, Editor in Chief, CRFID Newsletter
It is indeed a pleasure to introduce to you the latest issue of IEEE CRFID Newsletter publishing past activities and events of the Council on the auspicious occasion of International Women’s Day! IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) is very close to my heart and I have volunteered my services for WIE India as well as played a key role in establishing a WIE affinity group at IEEE NMIMS Shirpur. I take this as an opportunity to extend my deep gratitude and greetings to all the Women in Science, Engineering, and Technology on this occasion. There is a lot more good news for women in science and engineering than you might expect. Research shows that the landscape for women working in scientific disciplines – including maths, engineering, and technology – has improved dramatically over the past 50 years.
It has been one year since I assumed my current role as Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE CRFID Newsletter. It has been an exciting year for me. This issue marks the ninth issue of IEEE CRFID Newsletter. Before looking ahead, however, I would like to offer a word of thanks to our readers, our contributors, editorial board and especially Emily Sopensky for their support. Together, we have taken various steps to cement CRFID Newsletter as the best platform to showcase various activities of the Council. Launching a newsletter is no small feat, and we achieved a good measure of success with nine issues and consistently high-quality content from outstanding contributors. This edition includes messages, welcome messages, and reports, articles together with events organized or to be organized by IEEE C-RFID. Please feel free to provide your feedback and send pertinent information with photos for inclusion in forthcoming issues.
My goal is to make CRFID Newsletter the best in all aspects. To achieve this, I need your help, and I am looking forward to working with you all.
